SPEEDO & REV COUNTER BEZELS
« on: August 01, 2020, 08:57:30 PM »
I discovered today when I went to fit some new instrument anti vibration rubbers that both my instrument bezels are not in the best of condition fact they look as if they are just RTV together  :( :( and they both appear to be missing the chrome / alloy band

Q1)     Am I right in saying that a UK MODEL CB550 k3 has green faced clocks
           speedo 120mph & Rev Count 11000 RPM ?
Q2)     1/2 way down the bezel there is a chrome / alloy band, Is this folded over band what
keeps the two half of the bezel together ?
Q3)     Is there a rubber seal that goes in between the 2 half's of the bezels

I like to try and source 2 x bezels  & 2x chrome bands new or 2nd hand Any advice or guidance please would be great to be able to try and sort this little problem out

Regards

Nigel

550k3 has blue faced clocks, same clocks as the 550f2 generally, have way down between the black outer dish and the lower alloy base is a small alloy ring, this clamps the 2 halves together, afaik there is no seal between the 2 halves, I’d need to check my f2 clocks to say what the markings end at but redline is around 9300 iirc

Hi Ken

May 1977 is its reg date , colour is maroon , & it was sold to me as a K3 unfortunately its had 15+ owners so its going to be hard to work out what's been done to poor old "Muttley" (bikes Nickmane  ::))

We will get to the bottom of it with every ones help on here

The bands that secure the painted body to the base are stainless steel. Aluminium replacements are available from a forum  sponsor www.cb750faces.com there is a rubber seal between the painted body and the base. These seals are also available from the same supplier.

Well you learn something new everyday, never knew there was a seal between the 2, saying that I've never opened one, when I need my pair doing I'm afraid I'll be coming to you Kent  ;D ;D

I'll keep an eye open for a set of blue faced clocks GD, I may have a speedo spare somewhere if your interested.

Here's an image of the seal in question, between the painted body, inner body and the base.
