If you access the forum on a PC instead of a dumbphone you can save the picture that way!

I am sure that the rack is a "Craven" from Draganfly Motorcycles in Bungay.

Last year I was involved in helping them with the design of a fitting kit for the CB750 (my bike was used for measurements, and features in the photographs).

I was told that the additional side supports that fit from the rack to the bike frame near to the rear footrests would only be needed if panniers were fitted as well, and so have removed them from my bike.

I've covered around 2000 miles with the rack and a 39 litre Givi top box fitted and all seems well so far. Previously I had one of the old 1970's Tower racks fitted and on both the 750 and 500 fours they were continually cracking (they were VERY old, though). I was considering having replicas of the Tower racks made when through a conversation with someone who worked for David Silver for some years and now works for Draganfly, the subject of Craven luggage came up.

Fitted dozens of craven racks in the 70's and yes you only need the long bars for paniers

I bought the rack and panniers in a poor state on eBay for 30 quid .
Did a resto on them, still have to finish riveting the catches and straps on the top box and one lid .
Few more photos as well. Yes the arms are only fitted with panniers .
This was the setup I had in 1973. (I know purists don't like it )

I used a similar combination on my 500/4 from 1972 to 1974, however my panniers were Krauser's (available second - hand at the time for little money).

I have always fitted a box to my bikes to leave helmets, gloves and if solo a jacket in whilst I walk around. Today was a case in point - wife and I went to Wells next The Sea on the BMW (too hot, too crowded to stay long) and were able to put both of our helmets, gloves and neck tubes in the top box whilst we went to walk and eat. To me, the bike is of little use without a box or two on it!

Plus if you use your bike for work you need somewhere that’s guaranteed waterproof.

Like my Givi box.
