Did anyone on here buy this tank off E-Bay
« on: September 14, 2020, 02:14:25 PM »
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203099402549?_trksid=p2471758.m4704

I spotted this last week and followed it. I didn't end up bidding on it because to me it appeared the bottom may have been holed, there was a large piece of duct tape stuck to the bottom right where it joined the side wall and it could be it was rusted through in that area.

If anyone on here bought it please let me know if I was wrong. Just so I can start kicking myself.

Same seller also had it on another auction with a buy it now price of £480. Didn't think e-bay would allow that.

Those side panels don’t look original or they’ve had work done to then.

They look like fibreglass copies, mine don’t have that weave on the back. Mine are smooth.

I think Graham had a close look at the pics Ken and decided to steer well clear. I think it was a combination of the seller saying it was very rusty on the inside and the carpet tape on the bottom that made him wary. I hope whomever has bought it finds its a good tank though.
Im a Nurse, trust me, this won't hurt.....much !!!

Yeah it was the internal rust thing that got me thinking it may have eaten it's way through on the seams, the duct or carpet tape could be placed to hide that. Of course there is a disclaimer of sold as seen on the auction, with the seller clearly claiming he didn't know it was eaten away by rust if the buyer comes back to him.

I think whoever didn't buy it had a lucky escape.  I have had lots of trouble recently with rusty tanks and those side panels aren't right, fibre glass?
