What says the Haynes manual: '40' or '49'.
« on: September 20, 2020, 06:47:06 AM »
We are in the process of correcting wrong information in the Shop Manual Honda CB500-550, where it mentions 49±1,5 mm on p.8. The Haynes manual (CB350-CB500) in Chapter 2. Fuelsystem however says: 40 mm ± 1,5 (§8), at least it does so in the Dutch edition. Now the info in the Honda Shop manual is clearly incorrect. It's either in that fig. 5 or that 49mm. But is Haynes right? Did Haynes knowingly correct the wrong info in the Honda manual or is that '40' a typo? Can any of you look up what the English edition says? Thanks a lot.

From the 350/500 UK print of Haynes. Definitely says 49.

Thanks Julie! Now we can conclude that the English Haynes edition just blindly copied (incorrect) info given in p.8 of the Shop Manual Honda CB500-550. And the '40 mm' in the Dutch edition? Who knows. Let me ask our German brothers what their edition says.

1 15/16" is near as dammit 2 inches, as is 49mm.  Obviously a typo.
Where's that 10mm socket got to?
