Gunged Caliper.

This was a bit stubborn to dismantle. Wonder if it’s ever been apart by the gunge inside.

A couple of years is enough. But luckily it's an easy fix ;)

With the Caliper removed but still connected I clamped the brake lever to maintain pressure until I saw a minuscule bit of movement then unclamped and with a G clamp on the Caliper squeezed the piston in as far as would go then pumped the piston out. Could have easily nipped the bleed valve trying to get it out but it submitted to the gas torch. All cleaned and back on bike now.

Looks normal for a 40+ year old brake caliper that has never been serviced  ;)

That’s what I thought Trigg, gave it a good clean and stuck it back together bled it and seems to be fine. Better on the bike and working than sitting on top of the handlebars like it was when I got the bike. Will of course stretch to new seal later on.
