So, I bought this bike literally in boxes ~4 years ago. She was purchased with two other early UK diecast 750’s (both Feb 1970 bikes) and all three had been dismantled and stuck in boxes.

All of the engines required a full rebuild and nothing else had been restored other than the frame / swingarms (which had been badly powder coated).

So, 4 years on and I’m finally getting to VRJ 460J.

She’s one of the elusive 36 transition K0’s (if you believe the figures) - so is pretty much all ‘K0’ but with later K1 carbs.

I’ll document the rebuild here as she progresses..

VIN number revealed prior to blasting off the horrible powder coat and getting the frame etch primed and 2-pack painted..

The frame is back from the painters and ready for assembly to start...

Swingarm treated to new bronze bushes, new ‘collar’ and all other frame parts have been stripped, primed, 2-packed.

I suspect this bike that sold at Bonhams a couple of years ago was registered and sold at the same dealership (this bike was originally registered VRJ 895J):

Anyone see the article on the French registered  Gold one that DS had and sold to James May?  I seem to remember everyone on forums etc questioned  that it was an interim K0/K1 but it looked pretty authentic to me. I guess Honda UK identified it's 'K0's' officially. Not so sure about other countries.

Images are courtesy of Chris Rushton. We guess that this document was used by John Wyatt to identify UK K0's in his book.

No worries ... ChrisR sent it to me but I think Jason (Woodside)  also may have sent me it too at the same time. There was eBayer (&restorer) named Mel Manning who had a really nicely restored UK 'K1' listed on eBay UK last year but it was in fact a true UK transition bike not a K1.

Post is here about it:-

Looking forward to the updates James.
What happened to the sandcast you were restoring, was it finished, maybe I missed the final updates?

This was my interim model bought it from Bill Smith Motors in Chester in 1971, it was my first CB750 and the one bike that I wished I still had, it had Irish plates.
