minimum wiring to run a bike (Yam 600)

(1/1)

Chaps, this is a Yamaha question, but I reckon it probably applies equally (and as the Yam forum are hopeless at communicating I'll ask here).

I've got a 1985 XJ600 project in the garage. This thing runs, but the PO has partly stripped it including pulling most of the wiring off (neatly, may I add).

I want to fire it up before heading into a full stripdown and wonder what's the minimum I'll need to hook up to get it to run? Not worried about charging or anything, just want to connect a battery and fire it up to hear it run.

cheers, Phil

I test run 550 lumps with pair of wires from points to coils, another joining the coils to +tive on battery. earth cable and toutch the starter cable streght to battery, just mind your feet if testing 'on the bench' ;D

If you check the wiring diagram you may be able to workout what's needed or not. There will a bit more for electronic ignition bikes.
