Covid 19
« on: November 11, 2020, 06:38:20 PM »
Got back home today after been dragged off to hospital in the Ambulance unable to breath with Covid19 two weeks ago. No time for goodbyes or anything. Two weeks on oxy volunteered for the medical trials. Thankfully never ended up on ICU. It was bad enough as it was. A very scary 2 weeks. Now looking at a min 3/4 months for my lungs to recover. Requirement for escaping hospitial only 40 steps along a corridor not stairs. Sounds ridiculously easy but i have walked out under my own steam unlike many and no doubt many more to come.
Please do all you can to protect yourself and others from this its a slight inconvenience to wear a mask. Believe me this virus is NO joke.
I Wouldn't want any of you to go what i have just been through. Stay safe.

Scary stuff Moorey, I'm so glad you came through it when so many haven't.

Yet to have my turn, but maybe I'll get the vaccine sooner rather than later, as I qualify for a flu jab because I'm such an old git. My wife is a supply teacher, and I've persuaded her to take a break for a little while rather than spend the day in a fresh petri dish every week -some things are worth more than money. Stay safe everyone.

Very scary stuff, great to hear of people like you recovering but so sad that so many have not, as you say wearing a mask and taking precautions is a small price to pay.

Cheers

Speedy recovery Chris - scary stuff. We are self isolating as the daughter has tested positive and we are in her childing bubble. Week into isolation and no symptoms so far - I'm lucky as I have no underlying health issues.

Take care mate. A close call but well done getting through it when others not so lucky.
Trust your wife has been OK?

I feel personally, that the virus is getting closer and more real for so many. During the initial outbreak, we knew of few people directly effected in our area. Now a case in my daughter's school and virtually everyday more news just like yours, of people you know.

Scarey times.
One day I'll have the time to restore it, not just talk and dream....

High Chris a very encouraging outcome I hope you continue to recover completely from Covid 19 over the next few weeks.

My wife & I lost a close friend who was 76 yrs old  to Covid in March  2020 she  died at home literally as the Ambulance arrived at her door.

Keep safe

Thanks for all your best wishes. My wife started a couple of days before me but thankfully is made of sterner stuff than me and to a very large extent has made a good recovery although leaving her felling tired after a bit of effort.
The plan was to do the CBX550 this winter but it looks like i will have to be a little patient and await my own personal rusteration before i can undertake it. Spring will soon be here.  ;)

Glad to hear that you're recovering Chris.
I've been fortunate to avoid it so far, but I've lost a family member and an old friend to COVID.
Best wishes for your recovery. Stay safe everybody. 😷

Good to hear you are on the road to recovery Chris.
I had a dose of it last April, 4 days in bed with a high temperature, aches and everything tasting metallic. I didn't expect to feel as rough as I did as I consider myself to be fit for a 58 year old running 10k three times a week but the first time I went for a run a couple of weeks later I had no energy at all and had to stop! It took another three weeks before I could run any distance again and that was slowly!!
I still can't belive the selfish b******d's who refuse to wear masks on public transport or wear them under their chins. I always ask them to put them on, most people are ok saying 'they forgot >:(' but there are the ones who just ignore you. I would make these peoople watch the episode of Hospital that aired on BBC last June and showed the victims of Covid 19 in the ITU's and not all surviving including people in their 20's and 30's and then saying to them 'So you think it won't affect you'?
My wife works in the NHS on the front line and a lot of her friends are also NHS front line nurses and most were transferred to Covid ICU wards during the peak, it was a very hard job with lots of sorrow.
Glad you are OK and on the mend, at least you have the CBX550 to work on, lovely looking bikes, a mini RCB in my eyes :)

I'm glad you're ok now Moorey. I'm in a high risk area, Shadwell east London and I bet I am being careful, at 63 with COPD I could easily become a statistic.

Phew you've been through a scary experience you must be well pleased to be at the right end of it. I think a lot of us are trying pretty hard to dodge it especially as the end is in site with good news on the vaccine front. Both my kids, early 30's, have been offered a place on the Oxford vaccine trial.
