Fantastic job Steve. How many coats of the orange did you need?

ps. It's not everyday you see a flamingo in your back garden!  ;D

I did 4 coats but had trouble with stripy line effect so had to rub back a bit and apply a couple more.

The Flamingos are the wife’s, she has about a dozen.
Did you sand between the final colour coat and then the clear coat?

No sure about the paint Steve used James but with the RS Bikepaints stuff (excellent quality but pricey), with the water based and COB (clear over basecoat) they tell you it's  not necessary to sand inbeteen coats. I suppose if you decided to clear over their cellulose paint then you would need to sand between the cellulose and clear coat though.

Looking on the web, You Tube it says not to sand the top coat before lacquer.

If you have a spray booth this is probably ok, but if like me you are doing it in a garage then your are almost certainly going to get a bit of dust, bug etc on it.

I did have a couple of tiny marks in the final orange coat so I went over it with 2500 wet and dry and got it glass smooth.
It had gone a bit dull by then and I thought I had screwed it up, so I decided I had nothing to lose. I dried it and then went over it with T-Cut and got the shine right back up.

Then washed with soapy water, rinsed, dried overnight. Next day de-greased with meths and then Lacquered.

Looks great Steve. Orange is notoriously crappy when trying to get an even finish. When shop fitting for Sainsburys it was always hard to earn your money hundreds of miles from home and no digs and Orange used to take six coats or more. So you always new you were in for a long day
