I have one of these in the garage. I have been using it 3 years nearly with no problems. A nice dry heat. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vehicle-Diesel-Air-Heater-Fuel-12V-1KW-5KW-Parking-Switch-for-Truck-Boat-Car/264953087784?hash=item3db06f4728:g:B9oAAOSwOMxfvxRE
I've been out in the garage every day for 4-5 hours restoring the BIL's Z400J. I wear thermals under jeans and a tee with an old fleece on top. A great investment is hiking socks and a thermal hat, keeps me warm.I also have a dehumidifier running 24/7, it stops the bikes sweating and the tools are not warm but not like ice either. I insulated the floor and walls with kingspan sheets. Hard work but a great investment (and it stays cool when working in there in the summer!).

Mine doesn't have frost protection and makes a hell of a racket when it drops to freezing. So much so that I cant use it in this weather and have brought it into the house to keep warm.

It doesn't use a compressor but is electronic and can be used in minus temperatures. It is really quite in operation, I have to check it's actually on! It uses a ceramic disc to capture moisture. A small heating element dries the disc but the water collects in a tank. The advantage is it produces a bit of heat as it dries the disc. It cost about 4p/hour to run on its lowest of three settings. This is ample for my double pre-cast concrete but insulated garage. I've have mine for 10+ years and it runs 24/7 from mid Nov to mid March. Best £250 I've spent and you can get all the spares from a guy in Wales (not that I've ever bought any!).
Here you go Ted.https://www.dry-it-out.com/ruby-dry-amber-dry-dh600-dehumidifier.htmlThis is the guy in Wales who sells them and all the spare parts for them. He's very helpful and posts YouTube video's showing how to service and fix them. The power consumption on low is 50W, great little machine. I think he's selling them for under £250, cheap considering the damage a damp, cold garage does to your bike over a few years.
