One of the finest motorcycle engineers ever.

Thought the picture was appropriate as that era was amazing.

 Sad news indeed, i remember watching him on the Norton at Mallory Park up against the BSA/TRIUMPH triples in the early seventies.

Damn, I had a Bell Star painted in his colours before most people had seen a full face helmet.

I met him twice, at the TT and at a Norton Owners Club day  Brooklands. He was very interested in the fact that I witnessed his Oulton crash when the Norton’s tank / seat unit came loose, he had no memory of it whatsoever, and was trying to sue them at the time.

Lovely bloke, RIP.
