550 with no keys
« on: January 26, 2021, 02:52:11 PM »
Hi, I just bought a 550 78 from America but came with no keys. Has no id on barrel or seat lock. Do I need to buy new barrel, seat lock and tank lock? Can one be made? I'm based in St Helens but don't know of any locksmiths that will do it - any advice greatly appreciated :)

If the locks are like the 400f you have to remove them to see the lock number. There should be a number on there.

If no luck try Arun locks, he made me a key after I sent him the lock. Very helpful guy.

Welcome to the forum - I'm only down the road from you in Wigan
There should be numbers on the barrel of the locks - I had same issue with my 500k2 American import from DK. I messaged this guy on ebay to check if he could cut a set (which he could - try him

Just to add you wont get a steering lock key(its different) but they are easy to drill out and replace plus the tank lock any key fits as there are no tumblers in it

I had a look on there and couldn't find anything. I even took the seat lock off to get a better look but nothing.
