Not even the factory have recoeds of what emgine went in which frame, only records of what frame mumbers eft the line on what day so nobody can tell you exactly what it should be only if it is in the "range' of correct numbers, which it is plus in 75 Honda were building 500K1 for UK and some or europe, 500K2for USA and other countries plus 550K0 for USA so it was a reall nightmare

CB500 Four: UK and European (some parts)

1971 VIN 10**** Engine 10****
1972 VIN 20**** Engine 20****
1973 VIN 20**** Engine 20**** to 21****
1974 VIN 20**** Engine 21****
1975 VIN 20**** Engine 21**** And i have seen a 22****

It is not a K2 engine it is just a K2 number in the USA plus some other countries, because the UK and most of europe did not have a K2 then, it is a CB500 K1 number  ;)

Delta, the 500K3 was a totally different set on numbers and problems as it was a 550 bottom end with 500 barrells

I know, but that doesn't explain the engine- and framenumbers listed on p. 175 (addendum CB500K3/CB550K3) in the Shop Manual Honda CB500-550. As far as framenumbers no logic at all.

The European K2 is from: enginenumber 2166156 on, framenumber is from 2080001 on, so yours is a K1. That 'PG' on the license plate, is that Perugia?
yes it is

If you see it start up from cold and immediately carefully feel for the header pipes warming up I feel that is worth doing. If they warm up evenly it is some comfort. I thought my current one sounded OK (but it was 30 years since I had one which I rode to Imola twice!) but in fact it was only running on 3 cylinders due to a faulty plug and one coil wasn’t very good, so I replaced both.
My current one is similar to yours and came from Italy! Good luck.
