I’ve got no exhaust on my k3 at the moment but took this pic maybe you can check yours to see if it’s similar or if the stand is worn and allowing it to go too high

Two types of side stands fitted to the K and F2, (with and without the rubber) depends on the country  ;)

Looks like  the stop on the frame is worn. A little weld will solve it .

Thanks Yes does look a little worn but I still think something odd, I’d have to weld a significant blob on to stop it hitting exhaust, it needs to be about 15mm lower, but that would work

!5 mm is too much. Have you tried putting a nut in between the stand and the stop, to see how it sits. The bolt wares that holds the stand on but, that is only about a mm or so.
I would also loosen off the nuts on the head and the mounting bolt, then try to push the pipe towards the bike to see if that gives more clearance  ;)

Ok thank you, I’ll have another look at the weekend maybe take exhaust completely off and have a play with the stand to see if I can adjust in any way, thank you for your help

Are you saying 15mm on the end to the exhaust ? if so then that is only 1 to 2 mm on the stop. You can but a feeler gauge in at the stop on the frame and see what it needs .

It’s definitely a78 USA spec,
I can’t seem to see anything wrong with the stand or the mount, I may have to just come up with my own solution that stops the stand coming up as far so it doesn’t touch exhaust, obviously been like it for ages as exhaust is pretty dented where they meet

Hi,

Mine is a 1977 spec K3, if it is dry at the weekend I'll get out of the garage and take some pictures and measurements.

Hi Dave
That would be brilliant if you could, finding it frustrating to say the least, brought the bike back to life new paint job etc.. and silly little things like this don’t half cheese me off

Hi

As promised here are a couple of photos of my 550K3 (originally US spec) side stand. As you can see there is a couple of mm gap between the side stand and the exhaust.

regards
Dave

Thanks Dave appreciate that, I think I’ll have to get a little weld blob on the top of my stand to stop it rising so high that should solve it, many thanks for you help - Jason
