Front Brake Assemby Picture (on the bike)
« on: February 16, 2021, 05:55:03 PM »
Hi,

having a bit of drama with bits n bobs on the Honda. So I've stopped working in the headlight and electrics as my little brain is confused.

I thought I would add the front brake hose assembly etc. Can someone take a picture of it attached to the forks (brake block that holds the switch) and just for comfort, around the caliper itself/

thanks in advance

Nursey you didn't read that properly, he wants a photo of where the standard top hose joins the brake light switch block!

Just a quick tip from an idiot!  Don't be in too much of a rush to get everything bolted up. I started from the caliper and worked my way upwards, complete renewal. The really fiddly bit was fixing the hoses to the brake light switch, finally finishing at the master cylinder. It was then that I realised that the bend in the hose fixing was to locate it correctly at the master cylinder end, and not t'other way round as I had managed to, nice and securely as well!

Help again!

There seems to be a lot of 'extra' brake hose (see pictures) how does this route at the top? Also, assume the unions with teh bend attaches to the the brake 'thingy' with the brake switch?

That's normal for at the top end, it sort of sits in a big 'S' shape when in situ. If it really is too long, have you got a hose for  USA model which has the higher handlebars? It actually looks like you have got it fitted upside down though 🤔. Edit, mine isn't original so I can't compare.

Here is an original one and this is the shape it sits in once fitted to the bike

From bitter recent experience, must agree with Nurse Julie, the top hose is upside down. The "S" shaped kink at the other end is to help it to clear the top yoke. When I fitted mine, I had started from the caliper and worked upwards, every bolt was tightened fully, including the ba---rd brake light switch, and then discovered my mistake. I can send you the approved list of Anglo-Saxon phrases that accompany this procedure if needed!!  Stay Safe. Michael.
