Chassis plate attachment - rivet question
« on: March 03, 2021, 10:20:23 PM »
I removed the alloy chassis plate before my frame was powder coated nicely covering the stamped on frame number - I've read somewhere on here about re-attaching the plate and that original sized rivets can be obtained.

Naturally I had to drill out the old rivets but they are way smaller than a normal pop rivet. As there is no access to the the back how do folk here attach them as screws seem wrong?

Did you drill right through the frame Ted to remove the old rivets or just drilled out the head?
You can get the rivets through a Honda dealer. They are are blind screw type rivets with a corse thread, one hit with a hammer will knock them in via a pilot hole. The diameter though is very small and if you drilled right through the frame to remove the old rivets the new ones are very unlikely to fit. You could try getting a larger size as they are used for other applications.

Thanks Dave when I had drilled out the head I just knocked the remains through with a pin tool.

Does anyone know the part number I can't seem to find it on the parts list I have ?

Hi, sorry to jump on the band wagon a bit here but if you’ve ordered enough and have any spare could I buy a couple off you too? I was only pondering over this very subject this morning over head scratching coffee number 3!

Or a swap of some bits of you need any I’ve quite a pile now the old girls been stripped down?
