Air box etc
« on: March 18, 2021, 07:50:16 PM »
Could anyone please tell me if these air box/filter parts for a CB550 listed on EBay will fit a CB500 K1! Some of the parts numbers differ for the two bikes but I was wondering if perhaps they could be made to fit without to much effort.

My project bike was fitted with pod filters and from what I have read from most of the experts on the forum, these bikes don’t like pod filters!

The cost of new air box/filter parts are crazy and they seem to be unavailable anyway. After months of checking EBay, this is the first near complete set of bits I have come across.

Yes it would fit, you could recoup some of the cost by selling the snorkel, the 500 is open topped with the tool tray covering it. You’d need to fit a 500 filter though not a 550.

Thanks Oddjob.
Let’s hope the bidding isn’t too fierce.

Brackets that hold the 2 halves together and the ones to frame dont apear to be there and they can be difficult to get

Thanks for the info Bryan. Are the brackets something that could be fabricated relatively easily? I’m not concerned about authenticity as the bike was too far gone for a full on restoration without spending a fortune.

Thanks Oddjob
If it’s ok with you, I’ll get in touch if I manage to get my hands on the airbox for a decent price
