Torque arm washer (?) and rear brake indicator
« on: March 19, 2021, 05:04:48 PM »
The rear brake wear indicator is "discontinued" item 303 on attachment (part # 43145-388-000) and torque arm washer type thing - bear with me! item 584 on attachment (part no 90524-030-000) is £1.20 each for what looks like a plain washer!
2 questions does anyone have a spare part 303 or will a washer suffice just to pad out width? And is part 548 that special, I tried a washer and when it came to undo it , the washer had deflected and was B***H to remove - maybe 2 washers - any thoughts anyone , I don't mind the £1.20 its the p and p that irks somewhat.

I've never had the brake wear indicator fitted on my bike. If I can find a reference to the size of 584 without taking my bike to bits, I will see if we have one.

I'm of the same opinion , I've fitted new pads so think they'll probably out see my lifetime! I think another thin washer will do, but if you have one I'd be in your debt!

The indicator fitted to the UK 400/4 was actually the dish type, 303 in that diagram 43145-369-000. It's hard to find but should be easy to reproduce if someone has the skills.

The washer was actually a large diameter thick washer as the washer underneath was rubber to avoid vibration and ringing through the torque arm, as such it needed a washer of the same size so the rubber washer underneath wasn't distorted out of shape. Measure the rubber washer and find a thick large diameter of the same size, see to remember the washer was 8mm internal diameter, whereas the rubber one was bigger as it went over the shoulder on the torque arm bolt.

Top tip - thanks , I'll have a rummage in the "I'll keep that bit tin!"
