Removing Hondabond from crankcase is there a better way ?

I've spent almost two hours this morning removing Hondabond from my lower crank case half.

I have used Nail Gell removing fluid to slightly soften the remnants then rubbed  with a white plastic pan scourer to remove the Hondabond layer.
It takes me several repeats to get it all off working on a section no longer than 4 inches at a time due to solvent evaporation.
I used white rather than green scourer as it's a softer abrasive so it does not mark the alluminium.

Is there a better solvent I can use such as the silicone one you can buy for removing silicone bathroom sealer?

I usually just scrape it off with a Stanley blade Ted. Removing old gaskets and Honda Bond is a job that Graham let's me do 🙄🙄🙄

I usually find soaking it in petrol before scraping it off helps a lot. Just give it a rub with a rag soaked on petrol first.

Acetone is cheaper than nail polish remover and is the main ingredient in it

Has anyone here used MEK (methyl ethyl ketone)?

Not for this use, I use MEK for repairing ABS fairings and the like.
Just buy some gasket remover, it's made for the job! And for very very resisting stuff Tri(chloorethyleen) helps some too, is just as nasty stuff as MEK btw

My brother Paul has a mate who used to work at Silk Engineering in Darley Abbey - he sold his "Silk" to a buyer from Germany.
Anyway I digress he said he would ask him about a suitable solvent for Hondabond type sealants - he always used Methylated Spirits.

I decided to try again with some Meths using a dropper to build up a meniscus of fluid on the casing face - as the Meths started to evaporate I replaced it with fresh making sure it did not dry out completely. After about three minutes I noticed the edge of the Hondabond start to curl up. I then rubbed the surface with a soaked duster and it came off a treat in large chunks.

Off out today to buy some more Meths as my old bottle is now empty.
