Ok, novice question of the week.

I presume the drug is incorrect and item 4 is on the wrong side of item 9 and if so does item 21 drive into item 3 or item 4?

The workshop manual is not too helpful on the dust/oil seal location or orientation.

Would welcome some help please.

Drawing correct,  the wheel bearing retainer holds the bearing in the hub first with the whole wheel rotating, obviously.

Then, the cush drive slides over the outside of the hub that the bearing is inside.  The drive pegs push drive through the rubbers into wheel but the sprocket carrier can rotate on that hub as much as the cush drive will allow. 

It's different to the 750 wheel that has two wheel bearings, plus an outrigger bearing in the cush drive/sprocket plate.  Three in total to support the whole assembly,  as opposed the two internal on the 500 wheels.

This one is correct. Did one today and you have to grease the inside of the sprocket carrier  ;) And check that the sprocket carrier is in good nick with no lip .

See what you mean with the two drawings.

That item 21 is effectively spacing the centre of the bearing to the swingarm to enable it to clamp the bearings when you tighten the spindle. All the other components are rotating with the wheel. 

Think it's quite difficult to describe but fairly easy to assemble.

Yes, fully agree. Iv’e just built up the hub based on the second drawing and it seems to be correct. All a bit confusing for someone of my limited knowledge, but I only want to do it once safely.

Those are both parts drawings NOT assembly drawings, the LH threaded retainer holds bothe the bearing against the internal shoulder and the sprocket carrier onto the hub
