550 F2 stopper bracket
« on: April 28, 2021, 01:48:27 PM »
Any tips on how to get those pesky little rubber ‘stopper brackets’ back into the instrument plate. I don’t want to be too brutal as they are the originals.

warm the rubber to soften, maybe use silicone grease or similar as lube.

As above for me.

I also use silicone grease on things like side panel rubbers etc to make them easy without cracking the mounts.

Ok...the solution. Use 5lb fishing line. Place a good few winds of fishing line round the mushroom head, pass both ends back through the greased hole and pull while twisting.

This method is needed if the ham fisted owner has chewed the sharp end of the stopper through clumsy use of pliers...ahem :-\
