VJMC Forum?
« on: April 11, 2021, 01:40:32 PM »
Just been on the VJMC website with a view to joining, but they don't appear to have a forum or is this only available if you join? If so, I can' see it mentioned on their website.

Hi Andrew,
Some of the regional groups have their own Whatsapp group or forum. I'm in the Warwickshire Whatsapp group which is very active . I'm not aware of a national forum.

Facebook  VJMC  site is OK and very prolific in terms of the number of posts but often some nasty futile spats on there between members or so called 'experts'  that kind of puts me off.

Thanks folks,

I'll give the VJMC a go, but I am very surprised they don't have a national forum like this which is one of the best I've been on, at least the banter is civil........I think the VJMC missing a trick.

I don't do FB too much these days, but will give their page a try once I've joined.

I was a member for years, even got a photo of my bike in Tansha a couple of times.  After our local group died, I didn't renew and have joined a local, more active club
Where's that 10mm socket got to?

I have been a member of the VMCC for years but due to the stupid infighting and politics that's going on at the moment I have also joined the VJMC. It's like a breath of fresh air, the VMCC is so out of date it's untrue. When the present load of old crusties finally die off the VMCC will cease to exist. All they appear to be bothered with is old flat tank Nortons and the like, they frown on anyone with a Jap bike of any age.

I've been a member for about 20 years and we had a very active North West section who met at the Nab's Head near Preston.  I still keep contact with a few of the members even though I'm up here in Orkney.  The magazine Tansha (old motorcycle in Japanese) is very well presented and often informative.  Like any publication, it relies on good stories of restoration, travel and processes to keep interest alive and if those articles are not forthcoming, then it ends up with the 'same old, same old' from a group perceived by the masses as an elite few - trying to fill a magazine every 2 months. The section news, like all other club mags can be a bit boring to those who don't give a spit about seeing a picture of 'Bob eating his second burger' with no bikes to be seen.
I've contributed a few scribblings over the years and as an incentive, you got a couple of months added to your membership - hope that's still the case!
I also use it as a membership for my Peter James insurance renewals.
Obviously the 'for sale and wanted' ads have a long lead time, so probably not much use these days of 'instant gratification' and I'm not a fan of Faceache either - so probably missing out - hey, ho! Yer pays yer money......

Ian
