Hi guys, I am looking and wondering if there is a reference list to cover all the "O" rings and seals needed for the Engine Trans unit. I am trying not to make assumptions about what is included/ excluded in gasket sets etc, although there is a sealed bag full of "O" rings.

From all the rebuilds you have carried out between you, there is lot of experience of  Which things are included AND Which things need to be ordered seperately. There are odd things like the starter motor O ring etc I wanted to include

The bike I purchase recently has a few minor oil leaks to deal with, so I have decide to do a full strip and inspection so I know the full internal condition.

To have this info available woud be most helpful prior to ordering, also knowing best where they can be obtained and  which brands are reliable and those to avoid.

Regarding the Engine/Trans unit only, is it possible from your research to tease out and say for instance:

1. Which items are included in the Full Engine Gasket Set.

2. Which items are ordered in individual "other kits". (Oil pump kit as Laverda Dave mentioned)

3. Which items identified not available in kit form and only on individual order. ?

Am I right in assuming  that the starter motor "O" ring is a seperate item, would you know if Nurse Julie can supply this as well. ?

Thanks again Deano,

I didn't know Nurse Julie had a site, so that will be very useful for the future.

This engine was fully stripped to rebuild by PO some 3,000 miles/4 years ago so not expecting too much hastle with bolts etc. I think at the time some seals and "O" ring changes were overlooked, hence my strip down now.

I'm part way into the strip down now, Seat and Tank off, Carbs and coils off, Breather cover and tappet covers off, tappets slackened to reduce cover stress when camshaft cover is removed. Side tracked to remove oil filter and drain sump, but found the Oil filter centre bolt will not shift. I've tried using a 6 sided socket and extension bar, plus tapping the wrench while under load without result.  Just ordered a 12mm SnapOn Flank Drive socket to use on my air driven impact wrench and considering whether to warm the area slightly before impacting.
