Choke lever
« on: May 11, 2021, 12:55:53 PM »
Been doing a few sets of 350/400 carbs, basically the same but jetted differently of course.  One observation of no real consequence is that some choke levers say 'Choke' and others say 'Open' with the arrow pointing the opposite way.  It's not that 350s are one way and 400s the other - I have two 400 sets with the arrows in opposite directions - I suppose they could have been swapped in 40 years and many rebuilds.
Does anyone know if there was a change point, perhaps F1 to F2 for instance?

Hi Ian,
Have just looked at my carbs, 5 sets that come off F, F1 and F2 400s, all have CHOKE on the levers.

The part number for the 400 link set (choke lever etc) is from the 350/4 - 16017-333-004.

Thanks for the reply Deano,
I was not too concerned about the difference but wondered if anyone else had noticed it - I know that there are lots of sticklers for originality on here. Anyway, the two sets I've almost finished - one definitely from a 350/4 and the other from an F1 400/4 are both marked 'Choke' but the set on my 350 have the 'Open' stamping.

Do you know if any of the other fours use that type of lever/link arrangement?

Just noticed too that the pilot air screws are different!
