waiting times for the dvla v5
« on: May 14, 2021, 06:04:02 PM »
Sent off the paperwork for the registration for the cb360.  Just wondering in these times what the waiting times are likely to be to get the v5.  Long gone are the days of walking into the local dvla offices and getting the paperwork verified and checked on the same day.
Sent 2 weeks ago....
So is it sometime next year
or maybe before xmas
or 6 weeks ??

I did once get a new V5 within 7 working days.  Must have been done by a new recruit who was still keen.

Oh gawd so, sometime in August then.  Assuming I ticked all the right box's.

Plenty of time to sort out those dripping carbs then.  A new carb valve set from DSS is required. At lest the carbs can be off/on quickly...... unlike the cb550k3 I also have.

No point in looking out for the posty for another couple of months.

The new V5C has arrived for the cb360.  6 weeks in all.  Just the logbook nothing else returned.  The system does work.  Now to get the plate made.  And some summer miles done in the country lanes.

That's good news, hopefully they have cleared the backlog. I began the process yesterday on the Z400J after getting the MOT on Thursday. The single day insurance cost £52 to do a four Mike round trip to the MOT station! I was tempted to push it there but the heat, the weight of it and having a very dodgy ankle at the moment meant the riding it there was the best option. I'll see how long the process takes, hopefully I'll get some summer miles in.

And today (17th) the rest of the paperwork was returned along with a letter from the dvla saying the application has been successful.  The v5c had arrived 7 days ago.
Anyway it seems that the paperwork IS returned in the end.
All good stuff.  Now hopefully the number plate will arrive promptly from Fram   ptoms

Aren't hand painted number plates legal? Buy a small baking tray or find some old metal and a tin of white paint (assuming you have a pre-1980 bike here). No waiting, no need for the V5 to be returned!

...it's somewhere towards the bottom under 'authentic pressed metal'.
