CBX550 F2
« on: May 14, 2021, 09:28:52 PM »

Well its on the bench and i have made a start. Exhaust is off and in the bin, rear brake lever freed off it was absolutely solid. New battery that's the first fifty quid 🤣 new brake light switch, new plugs oil and filters and it fires and tries to run with a squirt of fuel. Carbs need sorting . Carbs off and one stripped, into the ultrasonic bath and back together. 3 to go. Up to press every nut and bolt has been a pain.  ;)

Is this a project thread Chris?

If so, how about a “before” photo.

This will be a good read. I've always liked these bikes but couldn't afford one back in the day when I was on apprentice wages.
I've seen a few on flea bay between the £1500-£2500 range.

Lovely bikes.
Mate had one back in the day - might even still have it is his garage but haven't seen him for a few years.

I've got some fiches for the CBX if you haven't already found a parts list - dated from 1982 / 1983 they show CBX550FC.FD.F2C.F2D which I guess may have been referring to faired / unfaired models etc maybe.
Happy to scan it if the old fiche machine fires up - it's a bit old, sits in a cold garage and links to an even older PC but so far hasn't died on me!
It takes a fair bit of time to scan, save and transfer images to pdf so if any specific areas are more urgent I can try and do these first to get you started.

Cheers,
Andy

Thanks for the offer but only do it if and when you fancy doing it. All of it would be great. I am in no rush for it at all as it will soon be time to escape for a while.  ;)
