Very stiff clutch
« on: May 29, 2021, 09:09:16 AM »
Hi all, after stripping the clutch, inspecting and checking, rebuilding and fitting a new cable i am left with a very stiff clutch to operate. The bike is a 1977 cb550f2 american import with the modified clutch. I believe the cable is routed ok, could it be that stronger springs have been fiited!, where can i obtain ordanary springs?.
Cheers, Tony.

Ordinary springs shouldstill be avaiable from Honda, get the part number from cms and ask your local dealer

There was a time when uprated clutch springs were popular....I had them in an X7 once....for about 2 days. Then they went in the bin.

the clutch still moved smoothly...just the effort required to pull in the clutch was excessive...and the clutch was impossible to gently release, it would grab as the springs pulled it back sharply. You had to fight it to feed it in gradually.

If its hard work to pull in...but when you release the lever it goes off like a medievel siege engine....HD springs
