Rear swing arm bush
« on: June 01, 2021, 07:42:22 PM »
Hello!

I’m having great difficult removing the bushes housed in the rear swingarm that isolate the lower shock mount. I’ve tried pressing inside a vice and these bushes are properly stuck. Does anyone have experience getting these out? I don’t have a torch but I guess heat is the next and last option.

Thanks!

Socket big enough for bush to pass into one side, socket sized to the outer bush the other side,  bolt right through (put copper-slip on threads) then it shoul be able to wind it through by tightening each end against themselves.

Oh, you'll need a washer each end to stop the bolts going through the sockets.

As you have said, the vice with appropriate sized sockets have worked for me in the past - they do take some pressure though (my vice is a pretty hefty 5 inch Record vice)

I pressed out the centre rubber then got hacksaw blade to cut through outer metal ring then collapse, very easy after struggling to take them out in one.

Thank you for the suggestions. They weren't budging with the sockets and press so had to get a lend of a junior hacksaw as per oddjob's suggestion and that worked a treat. Thank you again!
