Thankyou for membership a question
« on: July 11, 2021, 12:56:47 PM »
Hello,

Thankyou for allowing me to join the forum I suppose I shouldn’t really be a member yet as I don’t own a Honda but hopefully that will change this week. As I am looking to purchase a CB750 K6 or K7. The ones I have seen are in similar very good condition and original the K6 in black is listed at £6500 and 13 miles on the clock due to new clocks installed and the K7 in blue 21k is listed at £8000. The prices are fixed but really want to buy one of them this week.

Any tips or advice would be helpful please

Dave

Hi and welcome. Be aware that the K7 has awful carbs that block up for fun if not used almost daily, and a 17 inch rear wheel which can limit rear tyre choices. The K6 is probably a better bet as regards cosmetic parts and a lot of cycle parts being interchangeable with earlier models, and sharing common exhausts etc with earlier K2 onwards pipes. K7 and K8 have later seamless pipes that are very hard to find, and very pricey. But ultimately the decision is yours.

Welcome to the Forum Dave. The K6 never came in black for any market worldwide.

Hello Again,

And that you for your responses

Below are the links to the bikes I am looking at the K6 but it seems a little OTT price wise but it is very nice

K7 (13 Miles, £4500)

K6 (21k Miles, £8000)

The K6 has the wong handle bars ( Can not see the switch gear ) . Grab rail and correct indicator mounts missing, the front brake caliper should be black, clocks have chrome cups, which means they are hiding the condition of the clocks and lots of non original bolts.

The K7 is over priced and not the best 750 SOHC to have.

Thank you so both not worth the price do you think?

I want to have one that is original as possible but minor deviations wouldn't worry me too much and I want to ride every couple of weeks in summer and as long as it doesn't love value I would be happy

The K6 is at the right price if it was correct but, you would have to spend a load of £££ on it to get it correct.

This is mine that is correct apart from the aftermarket seat  :o

Thats Beautiful!!

So paying £8000 do you think I would struggle to get that back in the future? It looks lovely to me but maybe to an expert like yourself there are a few issues

GrommitDog (Nigel) lives in Northallerton and may be able to help if you ever need it. Or maybe someone to go out on a ride with. Nice fella, met him a few weeks ago. Lovely house and Missus too.
Thankyou I will contact him in the near future

We don't know what the future will bring  ;)

Investment bikes must be original or restored to original. I picked up mine from a old coal shed but, every part was original and just had to be refurbished. Got it 6 years ago now for £800 and spent £1200 on it. It was worth doing as it has every MOT since 1979 and i have the workshop to spend a 100 hours on it.

At 8K, you would still need to spend a shed full of money on parts and some of those parts are no longer available. If it was 4K and just needed a full refurbishment, then it maybe worth it. As long as you have the experience, time and the money to do it.
