Bleeding Brakes..

(1/1)

Athame57:
I came across this and wondered if it was the cause of some issues down the years...

K2-K6:
Yes and often commented on here in brake discussion etc.

Routinely I'd not use full stroke to bleed brakes on any system unless specifically required from instruction of manufacturer, car systems with abs facility the same.

Ultimately a good design has restricted lever/pedal travel that prevents a problem,  but many don't so safer to consider it correct in not using it right the way through travel when bleed is open.

MrDavo:
I had a nightmare with my CB750 front brake, which refused to bleed, until I was pointed at this bulletin, since then I bled those brakes and the dual discs on my Z1A with a matchbox taped to the twistgrip, with no problems whatsoever.

A few years ago, after changing the rear tyre on my Heffalump-Dumpaloon, I pushed the rear brake lever down too far and caused a world of pain when the piston got stuck in a part of the master cylinder bore where it wasn't supposed to ever go.

McCabe-Thiele (Ted):
A very interesting Honda Bulletin - wonder if they ever manufactured this cause out of the later brake systems?
