I know I can't be a Newby forever but my status as SOHC Master seems a tad OTT - well above my station in life and my actual capabilities - is there not a handle for a second year semi-qualified apprentice? .

Me too, I would class myself as semi-proficient in what I do and know - we had a saying in the army 'Senior Officers were promoted to the point of incompetence'..........
