Yes, it is stamped in. See pics. We think it is safe to assume the 627B, 649A, 022A, 087A and 069A carbs are identical and only differ in jetting.

FM. An entire carburettor mystery cleared up for me.

The carbs are the same, the stamping just denotes the jet sizes and settings. Entirely logical when you think about it. Thanks deltarider.

Hi, Oddjob.

My comment was a question rather than a statement. We got there in the end though. It’s aLl very confusing for a newbie like myself, but comforted to know that the carbs are essentially the same, but with different jetting.

Just a little unsure now whether to retain and restore the 627Bs on the K2 or stick with the restored 069A units (100#; 40#) I’ve fitted. It also appears I have the correct 069A 98#:38# on my F2, which is a relief.

[...]
Not exactly correct, there are very small differences in some of the air vent sizes and air bleeds but they are not worth bothering with imo, mainly done for emission testing by the yanks and to suit the 4 into 1 system better. [...]
Can you be more specific? I have no source for that.
Phil if the bike was from somewhere in the states with thin air, like Denver for instance, the needle clips could have changed to accommodate this, always worthwhile checking.
A difference in the position of the jet needle is a difference in jetting, which will be expressed in a different stamped in number. Unless you know of exceptions ofcourse. It may be that the position of needles is changed in areas with thin air, but then, I take it, this has been done by local dealers after delivery.

Just re-assembled the carbs with all new Keyster parts - starts and ticks over fine but havn't had time to road test yet to see if hesitency cured (although starts much better).
But! I seem to have misplaced one of the zinc plated circular blank off the carb body (at top of carb). Probably find it in corner of garage in a few years!
Has anybody got a scrap carb that they could take one off and sell me? Carb is 627B Type

Just seen this thread. Interested to know if you have had a proper test ride and whether it has solved the problem. I have been through the same journey myself and only fixed everything when I realised the needles and emulsion tubes have to be matched, i.e. come from the same source as the pattern ones will be subtly different to the originals. Good luck!

Can't give a definative answer yet Charlie - since fitting the Keyster parts, it starts better but have only done about 20 miles and although all seems fine' didn't have many opportunities to roll it on in the mid range under load (where the problem was) due to traffic.
Will update when I've more info
