Exhaust manufacturers
« on: November 01, 2021, 06:13:41 PM »
Evening all,

Anybody knpow of anyone/business except infinity exhausts in Bristol or the surrounding areas that might be able to make me a connecting tube to go from the 400/4 collector to the silencer please.  I've emailed folk to death and rang them but nobody seems to be able to follow up on an offer. Its only 6" long and I've all the orientations and measurements sorted just need somebody with a) the time and b) the kit to do it. I cant get it done here as I cant get the parts to make it or i would. Any help gratefully received.

Strange answer but if no luck you could try one of the rd expansion pipe builders like Dave (Mutts nuts)or Kenny at TSA or Dave at Higspeed exhausts

I've tried all over but apart from taking the bike to Ipswich to a pair of old boys who were right up for it, I've drawn a fat blank!

I'll have a look  Al, thanks mate. I'm fully prepared to have to drag the bike about hence the request for local but realising that this is going to be a bit of an epic!

Thanks for that, when I sent the photos and a request they didn't seem that interested and wanted over £150 and the bike for two weeks which I cant do and to be fair, is a little dear for a bent piece of 3mm steel pipe. I presume they were pricing me out and thats fair do's they have machine time n wages etc but its a bit steep for me tbh. Especially with two tanks of derv to get there and back.

They'd be great Julie but quite rightly, they want the bike and I simply cant facilitate that or I'd be there in a shot.

Exhaustpartsuk.com

Look at motorcycle exhausts, mandrel bends. Could be something usable there.

If you can live with mild steel most exhaust centres keep lengths of straight pipe you can then cut your own angles and get it mig/tig welded0

Hi Laverdaroo,

Have you tried manufacturers of custom stainless steel exhausts. They are jigged up to produce any bend required. I had one made up for my Rapido/Merc motorhome some years ago, whole thing done and dusted in 3 hrs.

If you know and can specify all the dimensions and angles/draw what you want and email it, you may get a result without taking your bike.

Worth a try and will last. ;)

Had good service from OS Pipes in the Midlands - they made new silencers for my XS850 to a one sided pattern.  Good price & turn round time & didn’t want the bike to fit to.

Game on, thanks for that XS. I've done all the dimms just need someone that can do it. I realise now I should have mocked it up sooner and had a better go at chasing somebody down as now I dont want to be grinding and welding in the shed now the paint is on the bike. Soon as its made I can get the pipes off and ceracoted (past tense of ceracote is?) and she can go away in the hallway for the winter and I can start with my bikes!

I've rang a few custom bods and had a few numbers to call but drawn blanks, hence the call for any ideas.
Im nearly there but not quite, its been an interesting 10 months and I'll bob a few piccies up.
Thanks all I'll keep you posted,
