There is a lot of optimistically priced rubbish out there from what I am seeing.

I have been looking for a set of pipery to make up an exhaust for my 750, and its scary what some folks are selling. If you see large patches welded on, cracks in the chrome, and flaking metal and holes....the sellers still describe it as 'usable' or 'needs refinishing' ..... Rechroming exhausts is perfectly possible ( pricey...as it makes a mess ) but you can only chrome solid steel. Accident damage, dents and the like seem to be no barrier.

£125 is a good price if what you buy can be used. Its less good for tubes of chrome plated oxide.

Monster link.Crikey! :o

Mine have been mullered and the collector is actually welded to the pipes meaning it would cost more to fettle them. It looks like theyve cut out about 100mm out of them to fit a crap can  in the gap......sheesh!

I'm adamant that I want the sculpted pipes, they're part of the great look of the model so If I can I'd like to use them which is why the offer of £125 interested me. They are rusty, I know but I'll probably cerakote them anyway so I'm not too bothered but you lot have seen a lot more pipe set ups than I so just asking for a bit of advice. I know theyre 40 odd years old and that condition is everything and that they're more than likely a bit worse for wear, even to use as a pattern, yer know.  With the budget I have presently, theyre kinda spot on except a bit orange!! I cant afford a new system even if I could find one!

personally i would give them a miss, it would be hard to make them look good while in one piece and almost impossible to re-assemble if you split them. I got mine from the USA at a good price but postage etc was expensive and you take a chance on condition even with lots of pics.

all my own work! I got them two or three years ago as they were only about £40 ish to buy plus post and import costs. Still worked out much cheaper than the advertised ones you are looking at. I cleaned them with autosol and wire wool. The front pipes are welded into the collector box from new, after being chromed i think because the ends are painted silver and covered by a chromed shield.

I was just going to ask that as Ive asked the chap to provide photos and he's happy to send them in the week so we'll see. He says that two have what he describes as exhaust paste on them so maybe has tickled em a bit if the crush ring maybe failed? Anyway, we'll see when he gets back to me. Thanks for the help, not knowing what a good un is, its quite hard to judge! :)
