Replacement for original external gear shifter lever links.
« on: November 16, 2021, 01:18:29 PM »
My original gears shift mechanism is in poor condition chrome worn away or rusted - some slop in the joints.

DS do not appear to sell the fixed part that holds the first joint - Arm 24710-377-000 only the pedal 24700-377-000.

So far the two complete replacements one sold by Bertrums bike bits. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/292633661096?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

Another by Legend Motorcycles https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/292633661096?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

They both have their faults in terms of quality of finish - anyone here bought a better version?

I bought this item for my own CB400f2 on Ebay and found the rod was too long and had to use the original from my own linkage for it.

Tonight I dismantled my original gear shift mechanism - the play in the ball joints is pretty minor nothing a chunk of grease can't reduce. I can clean up the chrome work quite a bit - at a push paint the darn thing if I have to - the worst part is the rubber seals are both split at the ball end where it fits the shafts. I've successfully done a repair on this type of seal on a car driveshaft rubber using Tiger Seal it held for a couple of years. Shame you can't buy the rubber seals seperately.

Oh no Ken now  I'm suffering from "Gear Lever Envy".

PS  -  Thanks for the part number - not listed on my Honda parts list but is on DS.
