NOVA
« on: November 19, 2021, 09:36:38 AM »
Help please. Just completing the V55/5 and I’m wondering how I declare the NOVA number. The 1-44 guidance notes provided by VJMC no longer corresponds numerically with the latest V55/5 document as the numbering system is out of sync.

How do I declare the Nova. Is this an entry on the form or a simple accompanying letter?

I have the completed V55/5, VJMC Dating letter and cheque prepared, it’s just I don’t understand how to add the Nova number!

Thanks.

Does this link help it has examples as you work through the form?

It explains how Nova works - not done an import V55/5 for about 12 years - then it was a car for work.

I've just gone through this process with DVLA. You should have a letter from HMRC giving you the NOVA number and to apply to DVLA for the log book using the NOVA number as proof.

Perfect Ted. I didn’t realise I had to apply to HMRC. I presumed they had issued the number in the first place!

Thanks again. How’s the bike coming along?

They stopped issuing nova certificates at least 5 years ago.
The frame number is on HMRC data base. As duty paid.

I'm just doing odd bits as you can tell from my recent questions -  plan B is to connect the wiring loom after winter now.

Glad to here you are still moving forward.

I’ve just spoken to HMRC who have authenticated  the Nova by phone. Apparently they no longer need to issue letters and emails to owners as DVLA have the facility to interrogate a Nova directly on application.

I’m reliably informed that a covering letter reiterating the Nova number and vin will be adequate. I’ll report on the outcome.
