Strange starting problem...
« on: November 20, 2021, 12:10:39 PM »
This past few days, when I go to start the bike for the first time of the day, the starter button is dead.  :o Something had me wonder and I moved the kill switch back and forth a few times and hey presto, it starts and there is no more trouble all day.  ;D  Any ideas?

Corrosion (ambient humidity caused)...
I service my switch-pods with a whiff of ACF-50 on the contacts, moving parts, springs, etc... get a small dab some silicone grease...
Q-tips and tooth-pics come handy for application...
Attention when taking switches apart, some have a spring-loaded steel ball inside...

Certainly seems as though it's an electrical connection poor contact as ST1100 suggests.

Kill switch has nothing to do with starter it only affects the spark, you probably miutely moved the whole assembly and button grounded better, if its an old style that is.

Next time try just wiggling the starter button?

Turning my mind to that I would be doing things it was never meant for. Maybe it would then do what my CB250N Super Scream did in 1983 and lose the starter button.  ::) Honda would want you to buy a new unit!  :o
