I am surprised that no one has done a reproduction of this as demand is high and supply is low,
Love the 500 and 550 have a 500 called Lazarus under restoration

I was thinking that Mick. It seems that demand is insufficient to warrant the investment.

That doesn’t stop a hobbyist though.

Anyone?

I was thinking of LPM when I wrote that.

I don’t imagine many tool trays fall off or get cracked though.

Speak to someone or a firm that does 3D printing, they'll reproduce it exactly. If a few on here fancy a new one or just one at all maybe a multi ordered attack might cover the cost? Maybe??

Ben Powell the 3-D print guru .. where are you?  ;D

Would need a CAD file though .. also not sure if it's too large for our printer at work.

Allen Kelly on here might have a suggestion, he has a printer but he's got his hands full with a back oporation at the minute :-\. He might be able to point you in the right direction, the stuff he does is awesome.

I brought my own 500K0 tool tray into work and Ben (Ben Powell.. member here)  confirms that our work  3-D printer is big enough, so he's going to attempt to come up with a CAD file and then have a go at printing one in ABS.. over to you then  Ben  ;D ;D

Thanks for bringing the part in Ash.

Good timing for this, I have just this morning had CAD software put back on my laptop, which means I can do some drawing at home again  ;D

I'll make a start on drawing it up tonight but don't have much time, but should have some free time over the weekend. Once I've created the CAD file I'll be able to have a go at printing it.

I've also just started looking at methods to improve the surface finish / strength of 3D printed parts to closer match the injection moulded smooth glossy finish (but only had a couple attempts so far).

I'll post updates on this thread

Ben, have you thought about an acetone vapour wash if its going to be printed in ABS?

Yeah, I’ve tried the acetone vapour method, but only once so far on a small part for work. Bit of a test really just to see if it would work, so a lot of improvements to make. I think it would help to give the part a quick sand before vapour smoothing with it being thin I would worry about it loosing it’s shape if it’s in there too long.
