Motad exhuast mounting brackets on a 400/4
« on: January 01, 2022, 10:22:01 PM »
Not sure if anyone here might have a picture of the correct rear silencer bracket arrangement for the Motad system?

My bracket uses just one bolt on the rearmost frame mounting and looks a bit wrong somehow - not tried to fit it back on yet but the original fitting was under a lot of tension.

Are there any  decent off the shelf adjustable brackets available?

I have the original front pipes that are in good condition asside from the pipes being a tad rusted into the 4 into 1 part so might have to go for that and a new silencer otherwise.

Thanks Allan zooming in on the second photo I think I have a similar looking bracket that came in a box of oddments with the bike - might actually be the original hangar part - couldn't find it in the parts manual when I looked.

Might even have the brackets and fitting kitknocking about if you cant find yours mate. I'll be backabout 1pm so I'll have a look then if you've not already sorted it.

Thanks Roo I've just been off to local Covid place to get our PCR test as we have both been quite ill since Christmas Eve mainly feeling washed out, no appetite with bad coughs. Only managing a few hours sleep a day due to cough - lateral flow test negative so might just be a winter flu even though we have had flu jabs.

Good move on the PCR, Ted. I had exactly the same symptoms. Interestingly I tested negative on three consecutive LF tests over a 48 hour period. I tested ‘positive’ on the PCR.

Ted, my son had symptoms and did LFTs 3 days running which were negative. Had a PCR on the day of his 3rd negative LFT and the PCR came back positive.

First photo is the bracket I took off single bolt hole was on the rearmost frame hanger lug.

This is the plate from my bit box I have undone the captive bolts that have steel spacers for the short plate - the captive bolts are spaced as per the rear two frame hanger holes on both sets of holes - there are two holes not shown on the bottom where it has a 90 deg bend to attach to the silencer.

Ted, the main bracket in the bottom photo looks like the correct one for your 400 but I don't recognise the rectangular plate with 4 bolts.

I've removed the rectangular plate as it seems a bit ott looks just like Allan's mounting in his second photo with it removed.

Hi Ted, sorry for radio silence, had a hell of a day having diabetic issues and just haven't had the urge to get outside.......basically feeling really rough all last night and today topped off by the mother of all hypo's early this morning :-[. Needless to say I hobbled out half an hour ago tohave a look and indeed the fittings on whats left of mine are the same as yours and as described above.  If you need a spare bracket I'll post it up to you before the scrap pile gets liberated to the van back and the merchants.
