Front Axle socket 22 mm nut
« on: January 08, 2022, 05:27:28 PM »
I wanted to torque up the front axle nut - my Kamasa long reach thin walled socket set has various sizes including 21mm & 23 mm but no 22mm.
I've managed to do it using the 23mm socket but its not ideal.

Can anyone advise me as to a suitable brand of 22 mm socket that is deep enough as I do not want to buy another complete set?

Anything from Halfords is pretty good Ted. They sell separate sockets so I'd try there first bud.

You need to consider the drive size,

Is it 3/8,or 1/2 inch

As it's likely to low but regular usage,

Go for what you want,

Snap on are good, but quite expensive

A little surprising there isn't one as 22mm is industry standard for a 14mm bolt.

For an individual socket, the Lambda/oxygen sensor fitment on car exhaust are commonly 22mm and a with a long reaching requirement to get over the top of the sensor, they're easily available and may suit.

Might be a bit late in the day Ted,  but if you go to the website of Whiterosetools. of Barnsley, and enter 22mm socket, they sell quite a range, something of which should suit. (Hopefully!). Super company to deal with, very helpful and VERY quick deliveries.

Thanks Mike, they have a good website - if Halfords do not have one it's worth me talking to them.

Halfords professional are good especially with the lifetime warrenty. Break it and they replace it free.
Use Lots of halfords tools in the garage and have had no problem swapping broken ones for new.
Heck of a lot cheaper than the usual special brands.

Sorry Seamus, slightly tongue in cheek reply, but I would rather have tools that didn't break.
