Rear exhuast mounting bolt size question?
« on: January 12, 2022, 05:42:40 PM »
The bolts I have are a bit of a loose fit in the mounting boss on the rear frame plus I can't find any part number in the manual that often quotes the diameter & length.
The way the lugs are made makes me ask if they are ordinary bolts or is there some sort of rubber mounting washers used in the fitting.

Can someone tell me what size the bolts should be please?

From memory I think they are M8, about 50mm long. I'll try and get out to the garage and measure mine later.

My calipers tell me the hole in the frame is 8.5mm does that tie in with the diameter of a m8 bolt fitting?

Yep. Clearance hole for M8 bolt. Gives you a bit of wiggle room to get the bracket lined up. 👍

From the parts manual I have the bolts are given as 92000-08045 Bolt, Hex., 8x45.
The copy I have isn't the clearest but I think the bolts are part 619.

Hi All,

Back after a long delay to try and complete the rebuild of Rusty. Since I last posted, I think I have been to Zimbabwe to sell and pack up my house, to Netherlands to visit my son, to France to try to rent and eventually buy - renting was impossible – a flat for my son at Uni in Montpellier and finally a house for myself in a little village called St Ferriol - passers by welcome for a cup/glass of whatever is available. I have also been back to Ireland a couple of times, oh yes, and I also acquired a 1970 T120 Bonnie!

I'm following this thread with interest as, a few months back, I got my hands on a complete Motad system and am about to try mounting it. I don't know what bits I took off; about to go and look just now.

What parts manual are your using Deano? Mine stops at No 525, and doesn't have any schema for teh silencer mounting.

Can you post the schema again, because I only can see a small version and its not legible.

Cheers

The copy of the manual that shows the silencer mounting is not great quality but is usable.
Hopefully it will upload.
Maybe someone with the knowhow can add it to Aladdin's Cave.

Thanks for that; mine stops at the L/M page. It's a pity the serial numbers are so hard to read, but at least now I can see what parts I should have.

This may have been better on Ted's other post: http://www.sohc.co.uk/index.php/topic,27301.0.html, but...

I found this bracket came with my exhaust system:

which looks like the one Ted has.

I am guessing it goes on something like this:

and then attaches using just one bolt.
