Is this price ridiculous.
« on: January 31, 2022, 02:53:19 PM »
I sent an email to Philpotts the other day asking if they could hard chrome the damper rods on my Marzocchi AG Strada shocks. They are 12mm in diameter but only 133mm long.

I got a reply last night quoting £95 inc VAT each. Considering the price they charge for a fork stanchion is that exorbitant?

I'd definitely try Dynasurf. Had a few pairs of stanchions done by them and all very good, only about £150 a pair.

Yeah they did a load of stuff for me last summer. I wonder if that's £60 a pair or each?

I'll give them a ring tomorrow.

Just rang Dynasurf, £60 for one but £95 for 2. Much better price. Will drop them off next week, going to try getting a swinging arm collar/spacer hard chromed at the same time to see how well it wears in comparison to standard.

Considering the process time will be about the same, yes it's a fair price.
