No interest in the old Hondas at moment
« on: April 25, 2010, 10:21:24 AM »
Hi all, it is surprising how  you can spend every minute available restoring and building these lovely old Honda's, then all of a sudden have no interest in them at all.
I Have been enjoying the early spring sun and riding some of my other bikes making the most of it while it lasts, but the result from that is i have no interest in my current projects, even my K1 has sat parked up while my other bikes get a turn at been ridden and enjoyed, i do hope i can get the balance right, and keep at it with the old bikes as all i want to do is go on my lovely fz1 at the moment, it is a whole different ball game with this bike, i have spent almost a

I completely agree with you Peter...I have too many bikes, but, as you say, variety is the spice of life. I went out on the R1 yesterday, & the day before that, while i'm working on the other two road bikes. But I prefer using the old Exup1000 when two up riding, as the R1 is just a bit too single minded.

Love the FZ1 though...getting a Fazer 1000 for the trip to Tuscanny in September as I just cannot bring myself to buy a Honda.

Do you not fancy the trip on the ex-up?
my mate has the fazer 1000 they are good bikes, last of the big liter muscle bikes with carbs, i almost bought one but decided i wanted the injection modeled fz1 with aluminium frame, and upside down forks, i was also toying with the idea of the latest R1 but the riding position is to hard on my back and wrists, oh and also to much damage on the wallet.

I'm not so sure that i'd want to use the Exup for the 3000-odd mile journey. It was ok going down to the South of France for the Bol d'Or as I was one up with my gear, but what with the pillion seat to footrests being a little bit cramped i'm not so sure that the missus would be able to enjoy 300 miles a day for very long without complaining of knee cramp...it's enough to just get to the coast & back let alone a longer trip.

I like the FZ1 but with the cost of one being a lot more than I want to spend, plus it's more complex than a Fazer 1000...I like the simpleness of the carbs, especially if there's a problem during the trip. They're good looking bikes as well...

The bug will come back,,  (not a gripe  but one thing i think of is the art of tweaking performance without losing longevity or sacrificing low top end power. now everything is going plug and play the art will be lost)
