PROJECT HONDA CD175A (SLOPER)
« on: February 21, 2022, 11:41:18 AM »
Well now I have some room in the garage after selling a couple of the bikes so been on the lookout for another project.
I came across this (thanks again Graham) and picked it up yesterday.
Bike is 95% complete missing bits are the main stand, top half of the chain guard and exhausts.
If anyone has any of these and are willing to part with them please give me a shout.
Can't believe how small it is even compared to the 400/4 ;D

Great project Paul - always fancied a Honda twin or single from that era as a project but the prices have gone through the roof (when you take the cost of the parts as well).
Good luck with the rebuild - I'm sure you will enjoy it
Current Bikes:-
Honda CB750K2 (1975)
Honda CB500K2 (12/1972)
Honda CR750 Replica (1972)
Honda CB350K0 (1969)
Kawasaki ZZR1100D3 (1995)
Kawasaki ZZR250 (1990) Project (Going on eBay ASAP)

That will keep you busy for a while  ;)
These are great bikes and bomb down the road very well. Engine is easy and cheap to do, no hunting for shells on these old girls.

I had one of those in 1970 as my first bike, same colour too!

Mine was, from memory registered RUY439F.

Nice find will keep you busy  Paul.
I got my 1st one in the same colour (Black Metallic / Lava Grey code XE) in 1972... great bike ..OKH 531F

My current one is Neptune Blue metallic and was one of the two Honda UK press bikes and was reviewed in MotorCycle magazine in 1967 OLA 4E  (see link)... OLA 5E was the other Press bike pictured outside the Chelsea Drug Store (K2-K6 found the pic of OLA 5E.

Sloper 1967 magazine reviews:

Here is mine 'as found' looking well worn and sporting tatty Honda CB92 silencers. it's gonna be like Triggers Broom when finished as most cycle parts are NOS (exhausts, wheels, seat tank, guards etc but correct numbers though).

Rare parts you have are the rubber air chamber, grab-rail and bottom chain-guard as it's the bottom half that is usually missing.

Probably not an issue to you Paul but I don't think your side stand is correct. It was pressed steel, not tubular.
I think the C92 one was similar .. I have both so I will check later.

You can just make it out in this original period advert  :)

Note also the black painted grab rail .. although they were later chromed.
The bike in that advert is the actual one I own !!

That frame and swing arm just crying out for a shot blast and a new coat.🤣 always good to see progress, tear down can actually be quite interesting. Especially if there has been a numpty there before.

Hello.
I recommissioned my Sloper last weekend, after being stored for a couple of years.
What a great fun bike to ride. Really gets a move on when in top gear.
Great little bike that just revs & revs.
Sean.
