Side lamp Mot rules.
« on: March 03, 2022, 03:51:22 PM »
Unless it's fake news there is no mandatory UK requirement for a motorcycle to have side lamps. I slipped up not ordering my 7" unit with a side lamp fitting. At present my DTRL is powered from the old side light connector quite happy to ride in the daytime on side lamps as its a low wattage lamp with an LED rear bulb.

If  its there it must work, if it was built with one it has to be there, at least thats whst it was when i was testing.
You can download the testers manual and peruse it at leasure but then for most of our bikes it dont matter

Here's the testers manual guidelines.

Thanks NJ looks like my DTRL will do as a sidelamp & it does not need to dim.

I think Bryan's right Ted, when I was working with Suzuki at a dealership a few years back. If it was there it had to work, so if you had rear pegs and a single seat, that was a fail.
Likewise if you had a double seat but no rear pegs that was a fail also. They change  regularly and a great deal of them dont really matter for our bikes but it might be worth a look.
