rectifier

Evening all.

just finishing off the wiring and flicked the switch for the first time. neutral/oil pressure straight up but the rectifier got very hot very quick. disconnected it immediately. is the rectifier snafu ? ???

If it(or battery) was wired up wrong, probably. you need to do some testing as per workshop manual

If you don't have a meter I can test it for you...I have a brand new spare for sale as well.

got a meter, thanks for the offer tho.

just seeing if it was a common fault.

Rectifier is the only thing on the bike that is polarity concious and can be harmed by incorrect wiring up consequently it is common but only when a mistake has been made
