small update on this - received that 390 filter from ebay, it looks to be the same as for 374, fits well. So short term fixed. long term plan is to get rid of that  breather hose into airbox and make it as on older CB500. But need to find some airbox body... if anybody has one for sale, pls let me know

I have never had a problem with the breather pipe to the air box so, why not just carry on as you are. Even if you don't want the breather pipe to the air box just, remove it, plug the tube and carry on with your original air box. A air filter is good for 5 to 10 thousand miles ( depends on air conditions ).
