Fuel Tap Strainer
« on: May 21, 2022, 06:51:37 PM »
OK, 1st post  ;)

Pondering why not much fuel is getting to the carbs necessitated the removal of the fuel tap only to find this mess.
Can I assume this is because of ethanol in the fuel? Anyone know if the replacement kits for the strainer have ethanol proof rubber seals etc?

DS do a strainer  kit I fitted one to my 400 but retained the original tap seal as I think they can't replicate it as one seal ring so there are two.
Honda CB500 K1 (new pit dug out ready)
Honda CB400 four super sport (first money pit)

How long ago did you fit the kit? Just wondering if it is standing up to the ravages of ethanol...

No, not lined and fairly rust free - the black 'gunge' is the remains of the strainer washer that once had two holes!

DSS says:
"Sorry, we are unable to confirm if this strainer is ethanol proofed but Honda has made this part for many years supplying it to  countries all over the world using all types of fuel ."

I'll just go with the flow (pun) and order a replacement....
