USA scrap yards
« on: June 11, 2022, 02:08:36 AM »
Hiya,
As some of you know, I'm over the pond for a month rescue-ing  a fish farm in south Carolina. This however has given me the chance to get to a couple of local ish, bike scrappers. I'm going next week (prob Thursday) so if there's anything you need and want me to scout for, let me know. If any good and I can hoard some stuff, I'll ship it over in one hit so it'll be a share of the postage if you're interested. I'm not buying frames and huge things but if there's anything you want, let me know and I'll see what I can do. I can swap wattsapp piccies so you can see what I'm looking at but beware theres a 5 hour time difference to where I am. PM me and I'll do the best I can for you.

Yee Haaa  and indeed, whoop whoop etc

Roo ;)

Howdy Roo.

Best go mining for the usual headlamp ears, top yokes, bottom yokes, wheel hubs, air boxes, plastic and carbs?

I’m on the hunt for very good USA indicators for an F2 and headlamp ear reflectors.

Hope is going well for you in yahoo land.

It’s on the list for yer Phil.

All good over here but  it’s over a hundred degrees every day I find myself working at night mainly. It’s too bloody hot for a northerner out here!

Heaps done but am ever increasing amount to do but enjoying it never the less

Keep an eye out for CB500 tool trays, you need parts that won't have deteriorated with exposure to sunlight and being outside so seats aren't any good as they'll rot for fun.

Considering the cost of 750 points covers if you see some really decent ones maybe pick them up and earn yourself a few bob. 750 covers have screw holes 12 and 6 o'clock not 10 and 4 like the 500/550 ones.

Maybe a rhino horn top yoke for a 750 as well.

If you come across a good 550 F2 seat base…snatch it.

Nice looking clipper. Is that a carp?

All the small easily forgotten bits n pieces are good, just be carefull what it looks like and where you pack it or the tsa guys have a hissy fit, they didnt like my brown bag of assorted fasteners, also it can be cheaper to pay for an extra hold case than pay postage

Its a Koshiki Gohaku Butterfly Koi. Same as all carp just with colour and longer flowing fins as dictated by the hobby market. This fish is about 4lb.......$28-ish trade cost. Nice fish but a pig to spawn. Did a mass spawning in the hatchery last week and the  result was this lot.......10million koi fry on day 3 ready to be stocked out into the ongrowing ponds that have been prepped for them.

I'm investigating extra hold luggage costs now after talking to a brit over here who does the same thing but for scooter parts. I'll see what I can do. Everyone have a think and we can get a list together. I have a confirmed appointment there on Thursday so its game on! 8) ;) :)

If you can get a pair of uncrumpled re-chromeable fork ears for a 500k2 (think they are same as 550k0/k1 - Oddjob will confirm I'm sure), I'd be interested please Roo

In short of the throttle return spring on the carbs. CB550f. A normal spring rather than one that wraps around the carb body ...I've been trying to find something similar locally but all the hardware shops have closed.. (are my descriptions rubbish?!). If you spot one that would be nice.

No idea what they look like, never owned a 750 and never will but I know they are rare so you could make a few bob bringing one back if you can find one.

The 3D printing of the tool trays seem to have stopped, no idea why.

Plus a genuine one will always be better.

K2 should be the same ears Phil but unsure if the US market used a different type than Europe, I have a NOS one lying around BTW. Not sure what side it is though, seem to think left.

My LH is straight and re-chromeable Ken - it's the RH that's creased in a place I can't straighten. If it's a RH I'd be interested pending the price Ken (think it would be may more than my budjei!)
