Best way to mend broken stator wire?
alexdecker:
Hey all
Two out of three wires in the stator harness has broken. What is the best way to mend these? Simple soldering, or is there a better way to go about it?
Also, went through my sealings today to make sure I got everything in order. I got 8 of these green ones, and I can’t for the life of me figure out where they go? Common Motor calls them valve seals, but when I look at CMS’ parts lists, they are now showcased on the valves.
Anyone with good ideas on both?
Nurse Julie:
The Green silicone O rings are for under the valve guides. Only if you fitted new valve guides would you have used them.
Bryanj:
Scrape varnish off solid copper and solder using leaded solder, insulatr with systofex of the correct diameter. Best to use new cable

What about the big lump on the wire? In the wiring diagram, it looks like some kind of coil? I can hardly solder it properly without replacing it?
Bryanj:
The lump is the oroginal crimped connector which you have to cut out to get the "clean" copper winding.
You MUST scrape the insulating varnish off to solder to the copper
